The TII website has an extensive number of documents on road design. However Wikipedia's page on the UK'S Design manual for roads and bridges", says: "Rather than create a separate design manual for roads in the Republic of Ireland, the UK's Design Manual for Roads and Bridges has also applied in the Republic of Ireland since 2001...." Some links of the European TEN-T Trans-European road network run through Ireland, so there may be some implication on design geometrics as a result. The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe produced geometric design guidelines for a Trans-European North-South motorway around 2002.
Notes
Background
Ireland has a population of some 5 million and is a member of the European Union. The main (but not the only) organisation involved in road geometrics is Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), whose primary function is to provide an integrated approach to the future development and operation of the national roads network and light rail infrastructure throughout Ireland.
Basics
Cars drive on the left
Main languages are English and Irish
Unique features
The DMURS website now includes case studies, and a series of webinars on the DMURS prepared by Engineers Ireland. TII has a GIS Portal with access to various map galleries.
